Viability of Kanha-Pench Tiger Corridor questioned in PIL

The First Bench of Chief Justice SR Alam and Justice RS Jha have issued notice in a matter pertaining to Kanha Pench Tiger corridor. A petition in the nature of public interest litigation was filed by three individuals pointing out impracticality of the tiger corridor. Raising questions on the design of the corridor as well as its impact on population as well as the wild-life the petition seeks restriction of commercial activities in the area as well as other safeguards for safety of the wild-life.

The bench issued notices to Union of India through ministry of environment and forest, state forest department, national tiger conservation authority, project tiger directorate, Satpura foundation through its managing director and collector Seoni to file reply within 3 weeks.

Senior counsel Adarsh Muni Trivedi appeared for petitioner.
