This blog is a humble contribution towards increasing awareness about problems being faced wrt Tiger Conservation in India. With the Tiger fast disappearing from the radar and most of us looking the other way the day is not far when the eco system that supports and nourishes us collapses. Citizen voice is an important tool that can prevent the disaster from happening and this is an attempt at channelising the voice of concerned nature lovers.

Forest staff come close to catching elusive big cat
TNN | Apr 13, 2012, 03.22AM IST
LUCKNOW: In the first positive development at Rahmankhera, the strategy to dig a deep pit to trap the tiger, has worked. The big cat fell into the pit on Wednesday night. Though it escaped, it has given the tracking team a hope that the idea would work. The forest department has dug up a 10 feet deep pit at the spot where the feline has made kills and covered it. A bait has been tied close to the pit to lure the tiger.
The tiger tracking operation has been continuing at Rahmankhera for past three months. The earlier attempts to trap the trap proved futile. The tracking team will continue with the practice of tying a bait close to the pit. The suggestion to dig a pit was made by wildlife enthusiasts, who have been following the Rahmankhera operation.
"Had they dug a bigger pit, the tiger might have been trapped," said Sanjay Narayan, secretary, Tiger and Terrain.
