2 mauled by tiger

Two persons were reportedly mauled by a caged tiger in Zoological Park, Rangaphar Sunday afternoon, leaving one grievously injured and another with minor injury.
According to sources, the attack occurred at around 12:30 p.m., while the victims had gone to Zoological Park for sightseeing.
The two injured persons were identified as one Kivixu Chophi (65) and Kukhazha Yepthomi (24) of Thilixu village.
Relating the sequence of tragic event, the victim’s relative said the tiger first attacked Kukhazha Yepthomi with its paws, however, he managed to move away quickly to safety.
While the other companion, Kivixu Chophi, was grabbed by the tiger and mauled him with its claws and teeth. He sustained more than ten injury marks on his head and face.
Kukhazha, then came to his rescue by pulling him to safety before the situation turned severe.
Kivixu Chophi, who was critically injured, fainted while he was attacked by the tiger, they said.
According to Civil Hospital pathologist Dr. Temsu, both the injured persons were rushed to the civil hospital, Dimapur immediately after the incident occurred.
The condition of Kivixu Chophi was stated to be stable though he was too weak to communicate or move around, while Kukhazha was released after administering first aid, they said.
